Previous Years
Last year was a remarkable Success Story for the Friends Association.
The highlights included the Art Sale (with mince pies and mulled wine),
Sponsored Skip, Easter Coffee Afternoon two Disco’s for the children and
the Summer Fete. This enable donations to be made for the school for the
purchase of PA Equipment and Recorders (£1,269.19), visit by the Theatre
Group (£250.00), new Library books (£1,000.00), Role Play Equipment
(£1,000,00), Leavers Mugs (£191.76) and Ice Lollies for Sports Day.
Christmas Art Sale 2005
Last year started with the Art Sale and gave parents the opportunity
to view the master craft of the children with a glass of mulled wine and
a mince pie. The children made beautiful art work on canvas which was
then sold to parents. Some of the unsold pieces are on display
throughout the school. Although not major financially rewarding, the
event was the first opportunity of the year to bring the Howe Park
Community together and build the bond between parents, children,
teachers and the school.
Christmas Disco 2005
Santa made his annual visit to the school at the end of the Christmas
Disco. A present was given to every child and an enjoyable time was had
by all (our DJ Natalie is remarkable).
Sponsored Skip 2006
The event enable children to exercise and in many cases, learn a new
skill. The children all received certificates for taking part and it
enabled The Friends Association to make almost £1,800. As the event was
held during the school day, it would not have been as successful without
the help of all members of staff.
National Book Week 2006
The Friends Association helped run the Annual Book Week stall in
February which enable children/parents to make purchases at discounted
prices.
Easter 2006
The Easter Art Competition and Cake Sale was another highlight of the
year. The children’s work was displayed in the hall and Easter Egg
prizes were awarded to the winners of each class. It was the children
themselves who chose the winners. Parents were invited to Cake and Tea
in the afternoon. With donations made for photo’s that were taken during
the Easter Bonnet Parade earlier in the day, we were able to make a
profit of over £350
Summer Fete 2006
Another great year and glorious sunshine. The school Choir performed
and there were recitals from the Recorder Group. Despite the Nursery
Building Works, stalls were dotted around the field and playground,
including the traditional tombolas, raffle, coco-nut shy, nail painting
and “wet sponge” Stocks (which was great for those wishing to cool
down). It was great to see so many past, present and future children
attending the event and the support from parents and teachers was
fantastic. It enable us to make an excellent profit of £1,400.41
Other HPFA Activities 2005/6
The Summer Disco again proved a great success with the chance for the
children to burn off energy and learn some new moves some new moves.
The Friends Association also provided Leaver’s Mugs for the Children
of Year Two who were leaving and moving to pastures new. Hopefully it
will provide a memory of their enjoyable days at Howe Park.
Ice Lollies were also provided at the end of Sports Day and the
active members of the Friends Association now have a reputation to
maintain as holders of both the Mum’s and Dad’s Race! |
